Letter From the Girl who Hated High School

High School is rough. If anyone hated high school, it was me. I was that girl that never even shed a small tear at any senior event. I wanted nothing more than to walk across that stage, receive my diploma, and run out the door. Never look back. The highly anticipated day finally came. I happily strutted across the stage and a strong sense of happiness and relief that I had never felt before came upon me. I had done it. I was finished. I was so ready to get on with my life.

Flash forward, first day of school for everyone... except me. Reality hit. Hard. I was officially a college student. All of a sudden, an overwhelming sense of fear and regret swept across me. Fear because of change. Everything was about to change. My relationships, my routine, everything. Regret because in that moment I knew that I did not live my high school career to its fullest potential.

As a high school girl, I hated it all. The moment I walked through the doors each morning, I immediately wanted to go home. I was surrounded by gossip, pressure to be someone I wasn't, and drama. Everyone was so mean, it felt as though teachers and counselors were constantly trying to force careers upon me that I didn't even want, and to top it off, my parents stayed planted on my case all the time. I didn't feel like I fit in with any group at school so I basically just floated from group to group, but it truly bothered me that there were "groups" in the first place. I was lost in a sea of people trying too hard, and I felt like I was drowning. But I wasn't really trying to have fun. I just went with the flow, and didn't step out of my comfort zone at all really.

As I sit in my dorm room alone tonight, I wish that I could go back and redo high school. I see pictures on Facebook of high schoolers at football games, spirit weeks, and so much more. I scroll down further and see statuses about how much these same people hate high school. I promise, I've been there. But please know that whether you are a freshman or a senior, high school will be over before you know it. Nobody is lying when they say that you're going to miss it. Don't get me wrong, I am so ready to get on with my life, but if I could redo the last four years, I would in a heartbeat.

Go to a football game, really cheer. Get into the student section and show some pride. You don't get that sense of closeness in college. Spend time with your friends every weekend. You won't see them all after you graduate. People drift apart and get new friends. It is honestly just part of life. Thank your teachers and counselors, they are helping you. I promise. Hug your parents and don't let them forget how thankful you are for them. They actually do care.

If you're in high school reading this and you're anything like I was, you're probably shrugging all these words off, but I'm here to tell you that you will miss high school when it's too late to go back. Whether you want to believe those words or not is up to you. I sure didn't. Nobody gets nicer, you will wish that you had those counselors and teachers to encourage you, and most of all, you WILL miss your parents, a lot. Make the most of high school, because you're going to miss this.

How can one not love downtown Owensboro? It's just gorgeous. Today I spent some time there eating at the always delicious Fetta and then just strolling along the streets. Enjoying  downtown Owensboro has quickly become one of my favorite pastimes.
I went casual today with one of my favorite Gap shirts and my favorite Lilly Pulitzer callahans at the moment in "Pink Colony".
Of course, I couldn't go without my Kate Spade maise.

There's just something about rainy days that make them so soothing. I am a sucker for rainy days! I am LOVING my pink jacket with white polka dots for the Spring. It's enough to brighten any rainy day! Anyone want to take a wild guess where it's from? Target kid's section. Yes, I said kid's.
How about my gingham capris? Oh man, I'm in love. You better believe I justified every bit of the $25 I spent on them... That's right, $25. I feel like this whole outfit was just a major WIN. Topping it off, quite literally, I wore a simple baby pink lace shirt. I love pairing patterned pants with lace. The look it gives is simple, but not boring.
As for accessories, I wore a watch from Target clearance and my new favorite rose gold ring from Charming Charlie's.

Thanks for stopping by! Lots of love!

Sunshine on a Cloudy Day + Outfit Details

Rainy Days call for bright clothing. I just love pairing bright, Spring colors together... Especially on gloomy days. Somehow, the bright colors always seem to put me in a better mood and get more motivated when usually rainy days just make me want to curl up on the couch! Today, I could basically be an Old Navy model (but that's like everyday). My long cardigan and the paisley print shirt underneath are both from Old Navy. These long cardigans are seriously one of the biggest staples in my closet. They are SO comfortable and when paired with the right outfit, they can be super stylish. I love the different color of green that this particular cardigan is, it stands out so well!

St. Patricks Day + Outfit Details

St. Patricks Day is here and the only pot of gold I found was my coffee this morning. I've never actually known why we celebrate St. Patty's Day, but I do know that you better wear green or else you have it coming for ya! Today, I wore my green gingham oxford shirt from, you guessed it, Old Navy. I have this shirt is almost every color... A little gingham never hurt anybody!
I paired my green shirt with a lightweight pink quilted vest from Old Navy. You have to really watch for these, they come at really odd times of the year and they're gone faster than you can say Leprechaun. To top it all off, I wore a basic pair of dark skinny jeans and navy flats (yes, purchased from Old Navy).
I hope everyone's Saint Patrick's Day was full of fun and luck! Lots of Love!

Spring Transition piece + Outfit Details

Words seriously cannot explain how incredibly happy I am that Spring is finally here! As much as I love layering, I am definitely not complaining about not having to wear a jacket everywhere I go. It seems that nobody knows what to wear during this "transition" time between Winter and Spring. I will admit, it's definitely not an easy time of the year to pick out clothes, but my biggest piece of advice is to stock up on lightweight long sleeve shirts. In my case, today I am wearing a lace sleeved shirt with a chiffon bottom. This shirt was perfect for today.
I paired this shirt with a simple pair of rolled up skinny jeans and my favorite pair of caramel colored  booties,,, Yes I have them in black too (if you love something, buy it in every color :)). Altogether this was a very simple outfit. I purchased the shirt from a resale instagram account called @8closets so I can't link it, but I'm sure it wouldn't be super hard to find. Thank you for reading today! Lots of Love!

Pastel Piko + Outfit Details

After many weeks of frigid temps and icy roads, I think Spring is finally making it's way around. Today, I was way too excited to just leave my favorite lavender Piko top hanging in my closet. I needed to say hello to Spring somehow... What better way to say "glad you're here" than to throw on some pastels and do a Spring dance *insert touchdown dance move here*... Okay so that may be a little much, but regardless I am one happy camper today!
I chose this lavender Piko top to wear today. Partially because the color is literally fantastic and partially because it's seriously comparable to wearing a blanket as a shirt... your favorite blanket. I paired this top with a scarf that I handmade. Hello clearance flannel!
Can we all just take a moment to marvel at these flats? Not only are they the most adorable shoes ever, they're no joke 100 percent the most comfortable shoe I have ever stepped foot in. The nude color makes them so wearable and so practical. Are you sold yet?
To top it all off, I wore my favorite fleece lined black leggings. Basically, I wore pajamas all day. Well, that's what it felt like anyway. Thank you ALL so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed! Lots of love!

Storm's a brewing + Outfit Details

Finally what's left of the grass after the snow has been revealed! But of course, storms are in the forecast... Winter storms. I have an obsession with pastel colors making dressing for the Winter very hard for me. Today, the temperature was absolutely perfect. I didn't have to run to get my jacket in between shots for once! I chose a very simple, clean look for today. This look is seriously one of the easiest looks to create.
I started off the look with a baby blue and white very lightweight striped oxford shirt from Old Navy. I threw on a simple light gray cardigan to tie it all together. I'm all about throwing on cardigans to make an outfit look a little more sophisticated. I paired this outfit with navy flats and a little bit of arm candy. Gotta love Target watches and pearls! This is my go to outfit if I am having one of those "I have nothing to wear" moments. It's so simple and you can mix it up in so many different ways.

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed! Lots of Love!

Bright Colors on a dreary day + Outfit Details

I know I've said it before, but I'm more serious today than ever... I'm ready to see grass! But of course, snow is STILL in the forecast. Oh well, I guess with Kentucky weather you just sort of learn to roll with the punches. Today, I was definitely feeling something a little bit brighter since I'm dreaming of Spring! My pink and white striped Polo Ralph Lauren oxford did the job. I don't know what Ralph Lauren puts in these oxfords but it must be something magical. They're so comfortable and so worth the splurge.

I paired my oxford with my all-time favorite quilted vest from Old Navy. I know for a fact that Old Navy no longer sells these (trust me, I've looked for more colors!), but I will link some below that are comparable. Added to jeans and boots, this was a simple outfit to create and very practical for everyday wear!

I hope you enjoyed this post, thank you so much for stopping by! Lots of Love!

Fur Vest Trend + Outfit Details

It seems as though fur vests have become extremely popular this Winter. I must say, I'm not hating it! I think the fur adds a little something extra to an outfit. You can pair a fur vest with a cute flannel, or just over a simple long sleeve shirt which is how I styled mine today. As you can see, the snow is still ankle deep around here so I needed a little added warmth today and this vest did the job well.
I purchased this faux fur vest from Old Navy. I'm not sure if it is still available, but I will post links for some below (that are under $50!). Would you believe that this is a kid's vest?! If you're able, do not be afraid to shop in the kid's section! I do it quite frequently. Usually you can find the same thing that you see in the women's section for half the price! I paired my vest with a flowy white top that I purchased from Gap. Added with black skinny jeans and my favorite Old Navy black booties, I created a complete trendy outfit. This outfit was super affordable and extremely easy to recreate!

Thanks so much for reading today! Lots of Love!

Dreaming of the Sea + Outfit details

Kentucky weather will be the death of me! One week you are teased with temperatures in the seventies, the next you are experiencing negative temperatures and a foot of snow. Personally, I am not a winter girl. I probably am destined to live in Southern Florida... I love my old Kentucky home though. The snow makes everything shimmer and everything just seems so peaceful. Today I finally got out of the house to run some errands. After spending the week cooped up in the house, I was definitely experiencing some cabin fever.

Naturally, layering up was the only choice today and quite frankly, I do not mind! I'm definitely a layering girl. I love everything about this navy and white striped lightweight turtleneck. It definitely has a nautical feel to it which could be the reason I chose it this morning... I'm more than ready for Spring Break! Although it is great for keeping the neck warm in these frigid temps, it can also be great in that seventy degree weather as well with it's lightweight quality. Oh, and its on sale for seven bucks! How can you beat that?

My Patagonia has been an absolute staple this winter. I'm almost positive that I have worn this baby at least three times a week since I received it for Christmas. If you have been looking into buying one, do it! Patagonia's are so worth the investment. Also check out ebay, and sometimes they even pop up on resale sites on Facebook. I'll link my favorite one below.

To top it all off, I chose my L.L. Bean boots to tread through the snow in. I basically live in these boots in the wintertime. Words don't even express how much I love these boots. One, they are SO warm! Two, they're very easy to style and incorporate into an outfit. Three, they make cute instagram photos! ;)
I hope everyone is staying warm! I am so happy you stopped by, lots of love!
